HIjol flower

When the south wind blows, its red flower frenzy, or the rampage of the small birds in its coat, or its petal alpana(as like calligraphy) in the open water, reminds of the lost childhood. I'm talking about the hijal tree and hijol flower. hijol

Uses:
The young leaves of this plant are consumed as food, such as in Vietnam where they are eaten fresh with other vegetables, meat and shrimp.
There have been published a research about medically uses of this species. The 1889 book 'The Useful Native Plants of Australia’ records that "In southern parts of Asia an extract or juice is obtained from the leaves of this tree which, when mixed with oil, is used in native. Practice for eruptions of the skin. The kernels powdered and prepared with sago and butter, are used in diarrhea; mixed with milk they produce vomiting. The root is bitter, and is said to be similar to Cinchona, but also cooling and aperient.

Appendix:
But with very sadness, it is said that this rare species of plants is going to be lost. So soon all of us, including the government, will not have to extinct this species, so it is necessary to plant hijal trees more. Barringtonia acutangula.
